Did you know?
H.G.Wells wrote The War of the Worlds while he was living in Woking. It was first published as a book in 1898. The initial landing site of the Martian invasion happens in Horsell Common and in his autobiography he wrote of his enjoyment of cycling around the area. Woking even have a seven metre high stainless steel sculpture or the Martian tripod space craft right in the town centre.
